UAV Measurements at the Rostock Test Dike

NEW PODCAST: During and after the construction UAV measurements have been performed at the Rostock Test dike by the University of Rostock’s department of Geodesy and Geoinformatics.

DredgDikes links to Setarms. The project DredgDikes will be presented on the Setarms conference GeSed in Caen, France, 10-12 April 2013. “The SETARMS project aims at finding sustainable, economical and environmental solutions to the dredged sediments management” with respect to the English Channel between Normandy and England.

First Seepage Experiment at Rostock Test Dike

The first seepage experiment at the Rostock test dike has been performed in October-November 2012. For the experiment polder 3 was filled within approximately 3 hrs and emptied after 21 days within approx. 30 minutes. No slope failures could be observed.

BWK Award for DredgDikes Master’s Thesis

M.Sc. Stephan Lesch has been awarded the BWK environmental award M-V 2012 for his outstanding master’s thesis within the DredgDikes project.

4th DredgDikes Workshop and Steering Group Meeting

DredgDikes Open Day in Rostock

The first DredgDikes open day in Rostock took place on the testing field in Markgrafenheide on the 19th of October 2012. Over 50 interested people were informed about the test dike construction and the planned experiments.

Polish Test Dike Finished!

Finally we can proudly announce that the Polish test dike is finished. The contractor finished all tasks in the end of july 2012, including installation of moisture sensors, piezometers and grass covering as well. We are now waiting for grass layer to be fully rooted and plan to start field experiments in the autumn this […]

Rostock Test Dike Completed

In April and May this year the Rostock test dike was finished. The extensive instrumentation was installed during the summer. Over 60 tensiometers and a large number of soil moisture probes were installed and connected to a data logger.

Progress on Gdansk Test Dike

As we informed in previous post – the construction of the test dike in Poland started in June. The construction company prepared the isolation layer of clay and started to build the dike body from sand-ash composite.
